In Galatians 6:10, we read the following, “So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those of the household of faith.” Christians should be known as a loving and a helping people, whether we are helping each other spiritually or physically. Many times, our fellow believers are not able to help themselves in their need.
Why should we be willing to help our fellow Christians? One reason is that it shows love in action. We must put our faith into action. We must let our light shine for Jesus. He was One who helped those He came in contact. How do we show this “love in action?”
Practical deeds that show forth this love are more appreciated if folks can see out love in action. Although we must tell of our desire to help, it’s better to show it. When we see a fellow Christian in need, let’s help them. Many times, they can not help themselves in this area.
Another reason is that it fulfills biblical commands. We read in Gal. 6:2, “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.” Another reason we are to help our fellow believers is that it reflects the body of Christ.” Members of the household of faith are connected, so when one person suffers physically, other are to step in and support them. Many times, the Lord has blessed up financially where we can help each other.
Another reason why we should help each other is that we can meet or exceed their ability to meet the need. People face genuine hardships, illnesses, loss of loved ones and this brings about overwhelming stress, especially when they don’t have the resources, physically to meet these needs. If we can help, we should help them get through these tough seasons. Christians must care for others! We must never turn our backs when we can help each other with physical needs they have. We must be a person of service; we must help if we can. By doing so, we will comfort each other. If we refuse to help if we are able, we are not following Christ! (Larry Miles, Septemebr 2026)
