In this passage the Apostle Paul reminds us that we are “in Christ.” He further reminds us what that means in our relationship with the Lord and how we live out that relationship, living “in the world, but not of the world.” (1 John 2:15-17) He gives us 4 instructions on how we can exhibit the fruit of the Spirit while living in a word permeated by the works of the flesh.
- Display light by nit joining those in darkness (Eph. 5:7)
- Display light by living out your identity. (Eph. 5:8).
- Display light by doing all that is good, right, and true. (Eph. 5:9)
- Display light by pleasing the Lord. (Eph. 5:10)
Let’s always seek to look to the examples in the Word of God on what it means to be a Christian and live our lives daily imitating the example of the Lord Jesus. Let’s practice mind renewal in a mindless society. (Rom. 12:1-2)
